Have These Walls Always Been Purple?

Yesterday the guys were back to move more of our dirt. They dug out the space for the walls, leveled out the spots for the decks and even carved out the path where we will eventually put stairs leading up to the decks.

This picture shows the cut outs on the hill where we'll build the decks.

They called it quits when it started to snow. The 20 pallets of rock are being delivered on Monday and if the weather controls itself, the walls should be done by next weekend. The weather has a mind of it's own, however because in only 5 hours we went from having no snow to this...

In other household-y news, we now have our second curtain! Doug's mom made us this valance for the family room window.

On the couch you can see my new green pillow. There are 2 others just like it. Everything we've done so far in the house has been very neutrally colored - I am trying to be brave and use more colors.

Thankfully, I think I know where I can get some help conquering my fear of color. While I'm busy being afraid of a green accent pillow, my cousin, Alana's kitchen looks like this (if the picture doesn't appear, click on where the picture should be and then it should pop up). I'm not sure I'll ever be quite that brave but I may one day muster up the courage to paint one of the walls something other than white!

I think you are doing just fine. Take it one step at a time.

Take your time introducing color. The pillows are a perfect way to start because you can toss them once you get sick of green.

Color is your friend. Paint away! You can always paint over it if you don't like it.

That looks like some pretty sticky snowman snow. Have fun!
I don't have anything to do with colors in our house. Lady Di handles all of the matching and decorating so I don't embarrass myself.

That is one crazy kitchen.

You will love your retaining walls and decks. I have a party yard. Our house is on the top of a hill and we have several terraces down the backyard, starting at the top with a hot tub and two decks and ending at the bottom with a fire pit. We have a blast out there in the summer, and we always have people over.

I'm glad I don't have to mow that, once it has grass that is. :)

The kitchen makes me dizzy. Be smart with your color! Too much can be, well, too much!

Thank you for linking to me!

No one can deny that my kitchen is the most awesome kitchen in existence.

And I know awesome because I wear pink and black checkerboard Vans.

That valance looks great. And hey, I'm so partial to shades of green, we have a green-y tiles, sofa..and curtains. Now the curtains are something I thought of as overkill.

They let a little thing like a foot of snow stop them?!? Wusses! Yeah, I agree take a chance and paint the rooms fantastic. If you screw up, my painting company will come out and fix things up for you nicely. And because I know you, I'll even give you 2 percent off one wall. ;)

Yikes! That's some snowstorm!

I know what you mean about getting brave with wall colors. We have modern, bright colored furniture, but I still can't being myself to paint the walls something other than the cream color we originally picked out for the house. One day..
