Last night was my first tap class. There were no survivors.
No, just kidding. Everyone survived. Including me. And my knees. It was not pretty, however. My friend, Campbell, who suggested I join the class with her is I'm sure now regretting her decision to do so.
The best way I can explain it to you would be to have you imagine a bull in a china shop. A big old bull running all willy nilly in a shop full of very beautiful, very breakable china. Dancers are fluid and graceful. I am awkward and flailing.
It was fun though. The recital is June 18 - mark your calendars!
Today I woke up with pink eye and am not allowed to return to work until Friday. Pink eye? What am I? 8?

I am very excited about June 18. I hope I can make it. As for your discolored eye...I hope it heals fast with out too much itching.
well, I hope things get better for you ;) Either way, I'm sure you'll be entertaining at your recital!
ugh .. pink eye? I hate to say this, but I'm jealous. I've never had it and would love to have an excuse to stay home sick ... with out being "sick". *sigh* Enjoy your itchy eye fungus while you have it.
I need to see video of this.
As an adult I can't even imagine taking tap. I can't wait to see the recital!!
And yes, you are eight :)
You are doing tap dancing. You are clearly not 8. You are 9. And Bullish...
I bet you were WAY better than you are admitting. Therefore, you better post a video of the recital.
I'm with everyone on this. We must see a video!
Two things:
1.Don't sweat it tap takes time, I have been a dancer for 22 years and tap still can make me flustered.
2.You know how you get pink eye dontcha? According to the movie, "knocked up" it's from poop particles...hmm maybe you should wash your face before bed, just teasin'
Feel Better!
Keep at it! I have two left feet and am as graceful as an ice bound cow, so I can sympathize.
Hope that pink eye goes away quickly. We live in dread of that.
I'm still incredibly jealous that you are taking tap! I'm with Val.
Oh and pink-eye? Wait until you have kids, you'll get it more often.
Pink eye? Are you sure your fellow tappers aren't children?
Tootsie ~ you caught me! I'm actually taking tap with the 7 and 8 year olds. On the plus side, I'm the tallest one!
One year our entire family got pinkeye, right before Halloween. People would come to the door and smile, "Duuuuude. Excellent costume. Even got the two year old! That's awesome!" and we'd explain, "nooooo, actually, this is REAL pinkeye. We are sick. Have some chocolate."
Next time, aim for fall.
You are kidding about the recital ?
OK, so now I have this image in my head of Kramer taking karate with all the little kids.... and it is making me laugh. C:)
Pink eye is the best! You get to a sick day without being sick. I wish I had pink eye.
Break a leg at your recital.
I think it's so cool! I wish I had the nerve to take tap class!
Hope you enjoy your free day and get well soon:)
I am sure you will be stepping and stomping and tapping in no time!
Rince your eye with camamile tea...seriously!
Get better!
Aww, I'm sure you did fine. Besides, tap dancing isn't always graceful ;)
You have 4 more months!
Eek! Pink eye? Hope it clears up soon...
'awkward and flailing...'
I'm giggling at the visual!!
I have to see a video of your recital on youtube!!!
I have gotten pink eye in my later years also and it sucks. You must put up videos of the tap dancing.
