I Just Memorized The Title To Freak You Out

Tomorrow at 2:30pm Pacific Standard Time, I will defend my professional paper. Apparently a professional paper is different than a thesis although when you ask anyone what the difference is, they are unable to give an answer. So, technically mine is a professional paper but the only difference I know of is that it doesn't have chapters and a thesis does.

Anyway, my defense is tomorrow.

I don't want anyone to be there in person because that will just make me more nervous but I would appreciate any and all happy thoughts / good vibes that you have to send my way. I am not in any need of earthquake vibes. We have enough of those.

If all three of my committee members sign the piece of paper saying that I satisfactorily defended my paper then I will graduate next month with my Master's degree. And either way, at this time tomorrow it will be over!

Well, I'm really impressed. I'm sending all of my good luck to you, and I'm a very lucky person.

Remember the time my watch broke. It was an old stinky watch that I was going to throw in the trash, but you asked me if you could have it. I thought you were out of your mind that you could do anything with that old battered watch. (It had been through many soccer practices.) But low and behold with the use of your magical words you wrote a letter to the company that made the watch and with that I had a fabulous new watch. If you can defend that watch you can definitely defend your professional paper.

Sending confidence and eloquence vibes, and also creating an attentive listening atmosphere.
You will ace it!

You can have all the vibes I've got.. I won't be needing them today. But, when you are done with them, if you could kindly send them back it would be greatly appreciated. C:)

I was scheduled to teach at a teaching hospital (it works out better that way), and my husband was dead set on coming along to "hear me speak". ARGGHHHH!

I can only pretend to be intelligent when family isn't present so I told him that he could come on one condition: that he TURN AROUND AND FACE THE BACK while I was teaching.

The idiot did exactly that!! Not only did it completely throw me off course, but other people started turning around to see what was in the back of the auditorium that was so interesting to my husband.

I should have added that I had to explicitly forbid Doug from coming to the defense.

Thanks for stopping by my little blog garden, and may I just say: any friend of dooce is a friend of mine!

Good luck with your paper and fear not the earthquake. I spent 85% of my formative years in California and survived with only an irrational fear of tornadoes.

Hopefully all went well. Just out of curiosity (since I'm positive you passed with flying colors), what happens if you don't successfully defend your whichever?

Thanks for saying hi! :)
So, how did your "professional paper" turn out???

I'm assuming, since Scarlet Virago said nice things to you, that all worked out well. You're obviously in charge. You will succeed in everything. Just promise that your political stance will be progressive and you will be fine.

Thanks for stopping by my blog! What a coincidence that you have friends at UB - it's such a large institution, but I love it here. Hope your defense went well!
