Can I Be That Guy?

The pictures are almost a week late but here I am in my cap and gown at the graduation ceremony where I was officially declared a Master.

Yes, I realize this is the back of me and I'm not wearing the cap. But the only real difference between an undergraduate gown and a master's gown is the hood which you can't see from the front. The white is because my degree is in liberal arts and the navy blue and silver is because those are UNR's colors.

And here is me, looking like a spaz. Here you can see the bat-like quality of the sleeves of this gown. I guess the people who are in charge of deciding what graduation gown sleeves should look like all got together and one guy suggested: "To punish those people who are receiving their Master's degrees, let's make the sleeves of their gown resemble bat wings. Come on! It will be a funny joke!" And they all agreed. Hence, the pointiness of the sleeve and the fact that the arm exits the sleeve at the midpoint rather than at the more traditional location at the end.

I always like to see which professor has the dorkiest gown at the various assemblies. It must be some weird sort of English-based humor.

p.s. Congrats!

And if anyone laughs, just say, "I am BATGIRL."
