A Doofy Idiot, With a Doofy Idiot Hair-do

This morning we got up and went to help sheer some alpacas.

You read that correctly. We know people who raise alpacas and we were invited to the sheering. So we went. I, being the doofy idiot that I am, forgot my camera so I have no photographic evidence. There was a camera there and I'm hoping to get some pictures to share with all of you because you may not know it but alpacas are freakin' cute. There was a 4 month old baby alpaca and Doug had to carry it to the sheering area because this baby alpaca doesn't like to walk on a leash. Can you imagine Doug carrying a baby alpaca? It was so cute I almost died.

There were seven alpacas total. Three of them were females, all of which are currently pregnant. One is expecting her baby in only 10 days so extra care was taken when sheering her so that the baby didn't just pop out. One of the other females screamed the entire time (have you ever heard an alpaca scream? Poor thing.) and spit twice at us. I've always heard about animals that spit but never had I actually seen it happen. It's nasty.

There was also a Guard Llama. They sheered her too. It was a group effort as she weighs upwards of 250 pounds and was not amenable to the idea of being shaved down to her skin.

Then I came home, took the dogs for a walk and saw this:

Ralph almost stepped on it and I couldn't tell if it was dead or alive so I just stood there and screamed, "RALPH! NO!" Then I crapped my pants.

Turns out, it was dead so I'm totally surprised that Spider didn't decide that he should eat it.

Tomorrow is my surgery. I can't eat anything after midnight so for the next 4 hours and 21 minutes, I'm going to eat as much as I can. You don't believe me? I just ate a piece of lasagna, half a bag of twizzlers and am now having a milkshake. I cannot be stopped.

Good luck with your surgery - I'll be thinking of you.

How fun - the sheering of the alpacas. I'll bet they appreciate the cooler coats even if the actual sheering wasn't all that fun.

Your life rocks. Shearing alpacas is a dream of mine.

OK, not really, but that's still cool that you got to.

Get yeeself to twitter ASAP, wumman. It's the land of the one-liner and not really a time suck like blogging. When people have to keep it short and sweet, it's much easier to keep up with them.

I've been trying to find your email address so that I could answer your comment on my page. At the bottom of your post you will see POST OPTIONS. There you can put any date you want on your post. If you like a particular post and want it on the top FOREVER, you put in a date in the future and it will stay there. One problem being that some lazy people will keep seeing the "same post" and think you aren't writing anything new. These people are too lazy to SCROLL down.

haha. I get that way too when I am about to go on a diet. I always have a "Last Supper". It's scary how much I can eat sometimes.

That snake is kind of cool looking, I wonder what killed it?

Oh, and of course, I hope the surgery goes well!

So...now that my heart has calmed down, what kinda snake was it? I can't see the head to see if it was big and bad or small and safe. The tail doesn't look like it had a rattle. Good thing you weren't hungrier or you would probably have posted about snake tasting just like chicken. JK!

You somehow managed to work my favorite animal and my least favorite animal all into one post. Well done!
