I Don't Remember Being In A Play Called Benefits Lapsed

The doctor called yesterday to say that the surgery went well. He informed me that he removed a piece of scar tissue the size of a grape from inside my knee. A grape. You know how uncomfortable it is to walk around with a tiny pebble in your shoe? Now imagine walking around with a grape sized rock only instead of in your shoe, it's in your knee. You're shocked that it was uncomfortable, I know.

Apparently he was unable to remove all the fluid so now my knee sounds like a hungry stomach when I move it. He said that it will eventually all be absorbed but for now my knee says slurp, squish, gurgle, splat. It's disgustingly entertaining.

And now for the moment you've all be waiting for. Some of you might not know what an alpaca looks like. Here we have Jump Up Joe and Brownie:

To sheer an alpaca you must lay it down. Doing so involves a set of ropes and pulleys, resulting in this...

This is Hannah. She was not amused by any of this. She screamed, spit and peed in an attempt to get out of it.

Doug helped bring each alpaca to the sheering area. Here he is with the Brown Bitch - that's her name, I didn't make it up. Doesn't he look like an alpaca farmer in the making?

If you are a baby alpaca, Doug will carry you...

I can now check "attend an alpaca sheering" off my list of things to do before I die!

That's funny, I just checked "read about alpaca shearing" off the list of things to do before I die - and that is enough for me. However, I had to add "walk around with grape sized stone in knee" to the list. C:)

A friend of mine use to own a Alpaca farm...I did not know shearing one was on THE list of things to do before you die...man, wish she had never sold her farm! You got one up on me now for sure!!!!

Keep icing that knee - aren't cyro-cuffs the best!?!?!?! Keep up with your therapy and you will be out running any old alpaca !

A grape?!?! Holy crap, that give you meaning to scar tissue!

I'm glad the surgery left you with not only a leg that works but also a neat trick to amuse the easily amused (you know I'm talking about me, right?)

Those alpacas are friggin cute.

As for your knee...that's hilarious that it makes noise, but the circumstances aren't hilarious if that even makes an sense at all.

shit, a GRAPE?! get well soon!
as for the alpacas, I've had a crush on the whole species since way back when, but this shearing business scares me.

I confess that I, too, would be disgustingly entertained by the sounds your knee makes. I'm glad you got a good result.
Those critters needed shearing. They look fat.

I love that your knee makes disgustingly entertaining sounds.

But your title - is it covered?

I'm glad your surgery went well, what a relief for you. Shearing an Alpaca, not our normal city thing. Good for you.

In response to your question about the dog on my Wordless Wednesday, yes he is a pit bull. He's my daughter's dog; he's a rescue and he has a low IQ. He's very sweet, and he thinks my Hubs and I are the best thing since sliced bread.

I'm glad they removed the grape--are you going to get a discount because they left the fluid? Or will there be an entertainment surcharge? Anyway, happy you're improving and feeling better!

Okay, seriously, why do you have to shear an Alpaca. I really don't know the answer to this.

I'm sorry about the discomfort you must be feeling. I still didn't get over the grape-size thing. Awwww.

And thanks for sharing the alpaca shots. I haven't seen any. I didn't even know there's an animal that goes by that name. Poor me. But I have to say that they look cute.

Glad the knee will get better and those things are cool. I want one. Can they do tricks?
