You Made Us Call Ya Bea

Last night we went to the drive-in movies. I had never been to a drive-in theater before and it was on my list of things to do before I die so there's something I can cross off.

You pay $6.25 per person and get to watch two movies. We chose The Dark Knight and Get Smart. We brought a blanket and a cooler of beer. Other people had obviously done this before and had chairs, dinner, snacks, a table on which to play cards before the movie started, etc. We were obvious drive-in virgins and had minimal supplies.

I really wanted to see Get Smart but The Dark Knight was first so I did my best to pay attention. I don't know why but I have trouble following Batman movies. They just don't make sense to me. So halfway through I figured I'd just take a nap so that I wouldn't be tired when Get Smart started. So that's what I did. I curled up in the blanket and took a nap.

When The Dark Knight ended Doug woke up me and Mindy, who is in town visiting for the beer pong tournament, and suggested that we go home. I asked why he thought he would go home to which he replied, "Because. You're two grown people sleeping on the ground in a parking lot."

What a kill joy he is!

I haven't been to a drive in movie as an adult. We used to go all the time when I was a kid with my cousins. My only real memory is that they would shove their friends in the trunk of the car so that only two people had to pay. Then they would go park by the dumpster and let their friends out. Looking back I think my mom could have probably found better baby sitters for me.

I love drive ins - as kids we went the Saturday night before school started every summer...it was like the last summer vacation activity...I cannot wait to start it with my little ones.

How is the grass doing???

So did you stay or did you go? I just returned from seeing the Dark Knight. I actually thought it was good. I saw Get Smart too (though not tonight) and it was really cute. So, I hope you got to see it.
I haven't been to a drive-in in years. We don't have one here anymore....

I loved the drive-in, as a kid. I think there are 2 left in Maryland, neither one nearby. But I still think of making the trip, sometime.

Hey that happened to me, once! Okay, no it didn't. The last time I was at a drive-in it was to see E.T. and Raiders of the Lost Ark. First run. I sat on the roof of the car and bawled at E.T. What?? I was eight!

Hilarious! sleeping on the ground. Was it gravel. Our drive in has gravel.

I also must add HOW CAN YOU SLEEP THROUGH BAT MAN? It was GREAT. You probably missed all the good parts during your nap.

I can remember going to those when I was 3! I wish they had one here. :(

You're lucky to live in Amurrica where you can still go to drive-in movies to sleep on asphalt. They don't get to do that in Communist Cuba.

I just went to a drive-in for the very first time myself! Only we stayed for just one movie because - stupid me! - I took all the kids with.

Sounds like a great night to me. I never understood the point of seeing TWO movies in a drive through. By the end of one movie, I'm usually ready for bed!

I actually like Dark Knight. We got to watch it after all the old fogies at the family reunion went to sleep. It was a good time. I really want to see Get Smart.

I hope you had a good time at the party, sorry again I couldn't make it. :(

I'm pretty sure, at the drive-in, I've fallen asleep in the car, on the car, on the ground, possibly under the car?, in chairs, on other people, and in the back of a truck. It's not weird at all that you two were snoozing in a parking lot!

In town visiting for the beer pong tournament? I have to admit I have never seen that string of words together like that. I love it!

The drive in movie I used to go to you parked on grass, so I guess that wouldn't have been too bad for sleeping. But we usually all stayed in the car and complained about how we couldn't see or hear.

I apologize. I wasn't able to continue on reading your entry once the words "Dark Knight" appeared. I'm going to see it on Thursday and am avoiding any potential spoilers. Carry on.
